Post Network issue, no idea what caused it.
Right, been trying to work out why this has been going wrong but no luck. Basically, I have a modem and my wireless router plugged into that, from there I have this pc connected to wireless and a pc connected with an ethernet cable. I just remote desktop into the pc and do stuff on it.

Today when I connected into it though I noticed that nothing was loading, my legal torrents weren't connecting to trackers, steam couldn't connect and websites couldn't load, I could still however remote desktop into it meaning it was connected fine and I could also ping websites and get a response. I don't remember changing anything for this to happen and I have no idea what could be causing it. Anyone any ideas?

Nope but it wouldn't cause that anyway because I can browse the internet fine from this pc, they're both going through the same router however the other pc doesn't want to load anything

that used to happen to me when my home network was young - it was something to do with the router losing the designated local address of the machine - or the machine losing it - erm, not much help. what i can tell you is that this was always fixed by a hard reboot of all the equipment. starting with the modem and working back.

Sounds like a DHCP problem (router/windows mixed up IP-adresses) or somebody else is using the wireless connection too

Have tried rebooting it all but no luck, running ipconfig shows that it has all the stuff assigned as it was before, it has a reserved IP on the network and it's connected wired so the wireless isn't messing up and there's no way someone else has took the IP. I just can't see how I can connect in fine on remote desktop and can ping websites from it but steam/websites won't work.

must be one of two things - firewall... or ip related...

if nothing else works try follow through http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... rindex.htm that helped me stabilize my connection - since i have a dynamic ip.

does your firewall update automatically - if so - it could have installed an update that has caused a conflict with your browser...

happened to me with my bitdefender total security and firefox3.

good luck.

Haven't got a firewall on that pc, all ports are forwarded straight to it anyway as there's nothing on it that matters, gonna fiddle with the network settings

It's just totally confused me, usually it is the other way around but my wireless is working fine, it's just when it's wired that it messes up
